Sir Paul McCartney is continuing to recover in Tokyo after being treated at a hospital for a mystery virus while on tour in Japan.
The former Beatle cancelled a string of scheduled concerts in Japan and one in South Korea after becoming ill shortly after his arrival in Asia last week.
The 71-year-old musician was subsequently admitted to St Luke’s International Hospital in the Tsukiji district of Tokyo, an elite private general hospital and teaching facility.
While his publicists have not confirmed the nature of his “virus”, there is growing speculation that the singer may have suffered a gastric-related illness, with reports in the Japanese Sankei Sports newspaper stating that he has suffered from vomiting and diarrhoea.
Sir Paul’s third wife Nancy, 53, has been at Sir Paul’s side at the Tokyo hospital, which was opened by a missionary 112 years ago and is widely regarded as one of the top ten medical estabishments in the country,
